WilmOnFilm Network

Your connection to people and resources in the Wilmington, N.C. film industry

Welcome to WilmonFilm.com, a social network for the film industry in southeastern North Carolina. You can visit this page, StarNews Media, and this blog for updates on WilmonFilm, new features and answers to any questions you might have.
Here's an overview of what WilmonFilm.com has to offer:

Personal profile- You can add information about yourself, including your job description, a photo and your location.
Add a friend- Like most social networking sites, including Facebook, you can add friends to your network on WilmonFilm.com. Just go to a member's page and click "Add as Friend" under the member's profile picture.
Post a blog- Anyone can post their own blog, just like this one. Just click "blogs" on the toolbar at the top and click "Add blog post." Your blog post will be featured on the homepage if it's one of the most recent ones posted to the site, and anyone can find all of your blog posts by going to your personal page. If you already have a blog published online somewhere, you can set up an RSS feed to automatically post your blog to your WilmonFilm site. To do this, go to "my page" in the top toolbar. Then, at the bottom left you'll see "Add RSS" and you can enter in the RSS URL for your blog. If you need help, just let us know and we'll be glad to assist.
Videos- You can upload your own videos from your computer and phone. You can also just copy and paste the embed code from videos you host on YouTube. These can be demo videos, reels, trailers or even podcasts. Use your imagination and post whatever works for you. Please make sure the content is appropriate for the site. The site administrators reserve the right to remove inappropriate videos and other content from this site.
Photos- Just like videos, you can upload photos. Want to show off your photos from your set? What to show the world what it looked like while filming your project? You can do that and more by uploading your photos from your computer or a flickr account.
Events- You can post an event by going to "events" in the main toolbar at the top of the page. You can post events for screenings, film auditions, film festivals, workshops and anything else going on in the film community.
Groups- You can create and join a group. Want to meet people who are gaffers? You can create a group and invite others who have the same job title to join. You can create and join a group for virtually any topic, as long as it's appropriate for this site.
Forums- In addition to blogs, you can post your thoughts on forums. Just click "forums" in the menu and choose the best category to which your discussion post should belong. Right now there are three categories: general discussion, jobs forum and local film forum. You can post jobs available or jobs wanted in the jobs forum, talk about local films in the local film forum and post anything else under the category of general discussion. If you have an idea for another category of discussion, just let me know.

Again, if there are any other questions please let me know by sending a message through this site or sending an email.

Thanks,
Shannan Bowen, social media journalist for StarNews Media.
