Acting Class: Pitt Community College, Greenville NC

It is SO important for actors to continue to study. I tell students that it's like going to the gym and working out. You can just do it once and be done. You have to do it regularly so that when you have that 2-minute window in an audition to get a role or are on set and the director yells "action," you're ready to work. For those in the eastern part of North Carolina, I will be teaching the acting class this fall. We'll do 4 weeks focusing on stage, role analysis, body types and exercises to use great theory like emotional recall. Then we'll spend 9 weeks on acting for the camera, adapted from a Meisner-based technique mostly, but with the goal of working working for results. We'll have a week on commercials and conclude with a couple weeks of improvisation. It's a lecture/work on Tues night and a 3-hr lab on Friday evening in Greenville NC. www.pittcc.edu School begins, Aug. 13. Wherever you are in North Carolina, community colleges offer a good bargain. It comes out at about $2/hr, which is hard to beat.
